Happy New Year! I’m only a day late which we all know is GREAT for me. o_O. I am renewed and refreshed and ready to tackle the new year. I was going to make a resolution to blog every day but you and I and the lady around the corner know that’s a lie. So instead of saying I will blog more, I can honestly say I will blog more purposefully.
One thing I did want to focus on is the concept of the #LGTBSide which I lovingly stole and modified from Ingrid B of the BSide (Yes I gave her credit originally here). The LGTBSide of life is the one that you won’t see promoted by half-naked women spreading eagle on a 3×5 card. No shade to the get-em girls, they do have their place in the world but … *stops while I am ahead*
Ok so I’m trying to put my money… and my sneakers where my mouth is. On the 22nd I’m going to do a 5K walk/run benefitting Care Resource, a primary medical care provider for the LGBTQ community of South Florida.
This is my first walk/run ever so ummm yeah I’m a bit nervous. That plus the fact that I didn’t readily realize 5K is 3 miles in change when I signed up. (Damn Metric System and Public School Education)…
All the money raised will help provide services to over 9,000 of our friends, family, co-workers and neighbors affected/infected with HIV/AIDS in both Miami-Dade and Broward counties. This annual fundraiser also serves as a vital vehicle to raise awareness and funds to combat the effect HIV/AIDS continues to have on the South Florida region.
Thank you in advance for joining in the fight with me. Soooo… yeah Give me a Dollar… or 5… yeah let’s say at least 5. *side eye*
Follow This Link to visit my personal web page and help me in my efforts to support Care Resource.
I am totally in love with this project. In a time when it is sometimes hard to be a proud Southerner, things like this pop up. This could be anywhere, what a beautiful idea. Next exhibit, Miami???? Atlanta??? A Lezzie Neighborhood Near You….
Winter Party Festival – the hottest winter in the world – is looking for enthusiastic and outgoing volunteers to join the festival committee and help produce next year’s event, which will be held February 29 to March 5, 2012.
Volunteers are needed now to plan and coordinate all aspects of Winter Party, including dance events, cocktail parties, women’s events, sponsorship solicitation, marketing and more. Volunteers will also be needed to staff and support more than 20 events expected to be held during Winter Party week. Benefits of volunteering include free passes to the Beach Party all the way up to free all-access passes, depending on the number of volunteer hours contributed.
Staff and committee chairs will be on hand at the Outreach Reception to answer questions about volunteering and describe the many volunteer opportunities available.

Now for the sake of unity, I am going to skip over my observations of my BFFs new straight girlfriend (woo sah) and tell you that I had a great time at the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival – What Women Want Short Films event. Another event sponsored by the awesome organization Aquagirl, six short films were featured so I will give you a little taste of what you missed (in order of appearance).
