Winter Party Festival – the hottest winter in the world – is looking for enthusiastic and outgoing volunteers to join the festival committee and help produce next year’s event, which will be held February 29 to March 5, 2012.
Volunteers are needed now to plan and coordinate all aspects of Winter Party, including dance events, cocktail parties, women’s events, sponsorship solicitation, marketing and more. Volunteers will also be needed to staff and support more than 20 events expected to be held during Winter Party week. Benefits of volunteering include free passes to the Beach Party all the way up to free all-access passes, depending on the number of volunteer hours contributed.
Staff and committee chairs will be on hand at the Outreach Reception to answer questions about volunteering and describe the many volunteer opportunities available.

I just finished running around my bedroom hollering “Hallelujah”… no I’m still on my 6 calorie workout plan but this is nearly as good…. ok maybe not. Before I go on a tangent (which we know tends to happen), the reason I am excited is that Patrik-Ian Polk of Noah’s Arc and Punks fame is finally coming out with a new feature film “The Skinny”.
I know we have been hearing rumblings about this project for the last two years but the trailer has been released today. For those of us who still religiously watch Noah’s Arc reruns, this is the fix that we have been feening for. From the looks of the trailer, The Skinny is full of the witty, BEAUTIFUL, and, charismatic black gay men and women (yes I said WOMEN) in the fashion we have come to expect from a Polk film. I am so excited for this to come out. And I know you are too. Check out the trailer below.

Born in New Orleans and cultivated in New York, Nikki DaVinci is a writer, poet, designer, painter and photographer. Be careful around this renaissance woman because her words have been known to make one’s body react uncontrollably.
Just finishing up her first tour with the Punany Poets and with her first book available on Amazon, remember the name as you might be meeting one of next lesbian laureates.
Give her time and she will penetrate your mind with her Bic (if you are into that kind of thing).

I soooo love iMovie and their corny trailer music
Alright lovebugs, I was “unable” to do a real review of Sweetheat Miami [read: I had too many libations] so I promised myself that I would stay “able” enough to tell you all the tea this time. Well… it was… cute. Ok now you know I have to tell it how it is, regardless of how much I want to lie… *deep sigh*

Now for the sake of unity, I am going to skip over my observations of my BFFs new straight girlfriend (woo sah) and tell you that I had a great time at the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival – What Women Want Short Films event. Another event sponsored by the awesome organization Aquagirl, six short films were featured so I will give you a little taste of what you missed (in order of appearance).

Now I am not going to take up much time this morning rehashing what Antonia Carter of “Tiny and Toya” fame (and yes I use that term loosely) tweeted yesterday about it being sad to see gay people under the age of 18, for several reasons. Mostly because a) she deleted the damn post, which doesn’t mean she didn’t mean it, but only that her cowardice got the best of her and b) I don’t really entertain commentary on the state of the world from anyone whose sole claim to fame is capitalizing off of Lil Wayne’s hyperactive sperm.
