:60 Second Shorts – Where Are They Now? The Butch Mystique

shortsThis might not even take 60 seconds…

I just finished watching the Butch Mystique for the purposes of writing a film review. Halfway through the film I decided to research (read: stalk) some of my favorites to give you and update on where they are now… the answer is simple. :60 Second Shorts: Where Have You Been All My Life? @PlentyofFish and Gaytor Girl

188010_418788461569126_1455660890_nI am long overdue for a plenty of fish update. So here goes. I haven’t been on there. That’s all I got. Okay well not really, I did sign on a few weeks ago during one of my “I am going to end up alone” bouts of regression (yes regression, not depression). First person to draw my attention was a young black woman with a UF hat on, which alone was enough to warrant a “click”. Come to find out this girl not only attended my alma mater, but we graduated around the same time… and knew the same people.  Ain’t that something? There aren’t really women that I am interested in and I am ok with that. I did however log back in today because I met one of my FISHES yesterday. Adding Pink to the Rainbow: Lesbians and Breast Cancer

I am writing this post from the comfort of my bed as I recoup from the craziness that has been my social calendar the last few days. I have quite a few posts that need to be written and I am hoping to knock out a few this afternoon.

20131019_090337Yesterday I walked alongside 20K men, women, children, and even a few dogs in support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s 2013 Race for the Cure at Bayfront Park. As the daughter and great granddaughter of Breast Cancer survivors, this is one charity walk/run that has a particularly important place in my heart.

KLife: Fencing is Officially My Thing … En Garde

20131010_205311 I have come to the realization that I am not anybody’s gym rat. I have a short attention span and having to do repetitions of lifts and raises and whatever else you do at the gym is not for me. So I have been trying to find new ways to get my “next summertime fine” body together.

First thing I tried was 5K races. In September I did two runs (walks) back to back. It was great. I liked the fact that I was able to combine doing something good for me (burning a few calories) and doing something good for the community (each of these benefited a worthy cause).

Even though I am signed up to walk in the Susan G. Komen 5K next week, I know that isn’t going to be enough to get all of these Miami Spice pounds off.

So I decided to find some alternative workouts…
